Big Sky Birdhouse
Sara Frances Designs introduces Big Sky Birdhouse. A well-constructed, all hand-made, 100% Western Red Cedar house designed to resemble the beautiful Monitor barns, or Raised Center Aisle barns, that are often found in Southern Alberta and British Columbia as well as throughout Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. And for those who like an international appeal, Big Sky delivers with a look and feel that resembles homes found in the Tucson countryside of Italy. This house is all hand-made and stands approximately 12” tall, 9” wide and 7” deep. The body of the house is rubbed in linseed oil to bring out the natural beauty of the cedar and then epoxied and varnished to keep that luster and shine locked in. The roof and bottom rails are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Premium Exterior, Jet Black. The entry hole is our standard 1¼” in diameter, which attracts the smaller songbirds that we like so much, such as Chickadees, Wrens, Nuthatches and Downy Woodpeckers to name just a few. The entry hole is protected by a copper protector that will help stop invading birds or squirrels from enlarging the hole. The right-side roof panel is hinged to allow for easy annual cleanout and the floor has drain holes to help maintain a dry environment. The house is also fitted with a ring on top so that you can hang the house if so desired. All Sara Frances Designs houses come standard with a sturdy bracket that you can use to mount your house to a post if you would prefer that. All our birdhouses make charming gifts for any occasion and help the owner and inhabitant to create that small escape you’re both looking for.
