If you’ve ever said to yourself, I remember fondly the fun we had that summer long ago at the cottage, but oddly enough, I don’t care to remember last week, or even what I had for lunch yesterday, then this house is right for you. A sturdy house designed to resemble a colonial cottage that many of us have seen in paintings, pictures or fondly conjure up when thinking of what our own cottage might look like. Made entirely of Western Red Cedar, this Colonial Cottage birdhouse is all hand-made and painted using Benjamin Moore premium exterior paint, while the roof is epoxied and varnished to not only protect the cedar from the weather but also to bring out its natural luster and beauty. Measuring 6 ½” square and 14” tall, this house is inviting for the discerning bird. With an entry hole diameter of 1¼” the house is designed to attract the smaller songbirds that we love so much, including Nuthatches, Warblers, Wrens and Chickadees, to name a few. The entry hole is protected with a copper shield to help stop larger birds or squirrels from damaging the entry and accessing the nesting box, while the top of the house is fitted with a stainless-steel ring and backing plate so it can be hung from a hook if so desired. Vents in the sides help aid air circulation throughout the nesting box, while drain holes in the floor help maintain a dry environment inside, and a hinged access door allows for easy annual cleanout.
Purchase the Colonial Cottage Birdhouse and find your small escape with Sara Frances Designs.
